The first thing that comes to my mind when i hear the name Jeffery Archer is 'Abel Rosnovski'. This larger than life character from the international best seller 'kane and abel' has left an indelible impression in my mind. The having the opportunity to meet the author of this remarkable character was a novel experience in itself.
Lord Jeffery Archer was on his India tour and visited the last India destination, Bangalore on 18th May,2009. Here's how I got to see him and what happened next.

I was in my office reading an article on phrasal verb. Honestly I was bored and wanted to check out something interesting happening in Bangalore. I looged on to a bangalore based website and boom! The first article on the homepage read- Lord Jeffery Archer in Bangalore.
I went through the article to find out that, that very evening he was going to be present at the Swagath Garuda Landmark at 7 pm. I was happy about where I lived in the city because this venue was close to my house. I was excited throughout the day. Finally at 6pm I started my journey towards meeting the legend. Unfortunately I live in a city where apart from transport everything is managed quite well Sad Anyway after fighting with the traffic for almost an hour (the place is less than four kilometers from my office) at stroke of 7 I reached Landmark.
The scene before my eyes baffled me. I had never seen so many people in this little mall before. Infact if my sense of proportion is not too distorted i think since the mall's opening it has not seen so many people added together as it was today. The agile and adaptive person that i am I quickly grabbed a chair for myself amidst the ocean of vertically straight human bodies.
After minutes of anticipation the minority (the ones who were able to sit) rose along with those already standing and a wave of excitement grew to great heights. There, right before our eyes was the Master Storyteller Jeffery Archer!
No meandering around the topic he went straight into congratulating India for a successful election and said if he were in the cabinet he would like to be transport minister focussing our attention to the one of the gravest issues in bangalore. Then he unfolded the story behind the making of the internationally acclaimed author. Every now and then he added humour to his talks that had bangalore smiling. Oh by the way, goodnews for the millions of Indian kane and abel fans, A new kane and abel is going to be on the stands soon. Once the talk about this phenomenal novel was over he unraveled the idea behind his latest book, Paths of Glory. All i can say is that it is an immensely interesting fiction based on reality. For the rest you will have to read it. I have read this gripping novel and i am sure you will like it too.
Soon the Q and A with the audience began and the replies given by the author expanded my knowledge base. He engaged 8 to 80 yr olds alike with his simple sharp entertaining and inspiring answers. I too asked him questions that were promptly answered. It felt amazing to be talking to a man like him. Finally at the end of the session I was lucky to get my copy of the book "The forth Estate" signed by him which was the final icing on a very very delicious cake!
